An Iconic Automotive Designer and his collaboration with Seiko

From the sleek Lotus Esprit Series 1 to the futuristic Maserati Boomerang, from the iconic DeLorean to the wild De Tomaso Mangusta, Giorgetto Giugiaro's creative genius has left an indelible mark on the world of automotive design. But he didn't stop at cars; he extended his artistic touch to other realms, including cameras and watches. His Seiko Speedmaster series, tailor-made for the racetrack, achieved cult status when it graced the wrists of Ripley and Bishop in the 1986 sci-fi masterpiece, 'Aliens.'

James Cameron's sci-fi epic 'Aliens' was a visual feast, featuring talents like the legendary H.R. Giger. Giugiaro's watches, designed back in 1983, fit the futuristic vision of the year 2179 like a glove.

Wearing these 80's chronographs today still evokes that sense of futuristic cool. The original reference to the 7A28 movement is becoming increasingly elusive in the wild. As for the two examples featured here, they're cherished pieces from a private collection, and you won't find them up for sale anytime soon.
